Coates Residents: Do you want to have a say in determining local road safety priorities?

Following on from the Annual Parish Meeting held in April and concerns expressed by a number of residents at this meeting, Coates Parish Council would like to form an Action Group to recruit volunteers to participate in local speed monitoring schemes and to help decide on road safety priorities for our village.

Financial support is available from Gloucestershire County Council on a match funding basis if we can demonstrate the need for improvement measures but volunteers and Community Champions are needed to get involved, help raise funds and to fight for improvements.

As well as identifying road safety priorities in Coates we will need volunteers to act as Community Champions on such issues as Street Lighting, Lorry Watch and Public Rights of Way. We will also need committed volunteers to help with possible roadside planting and Speed Watch campaigns and to fundraise through local events so that we can benefit from GCC’s Big Community Offer*.

If you are concerned about any of these issues or any other road safety related matters in Coates and would like to get involved, please contact the Parish Council at: libbyharrison@coatesparish.org.uk
