Dog mess is both an offensive type of litter and a health hazard.
A number of complaints concerning dog fouling in Coates have been received by the Parish Council.
Coates Parish Council kindly asks all local dog owners to act responsibly and to clean up after their pets.
Anyone who fails to clear up after their dog can be issued with a Fixed Penalty Notice of up to £100. Dog owners / walkers are also required to carry disposable bags with them on all walks.
Residents have particularly complained about dog owners who bag their pet’s waste but leave the bags in public areas or even on private property. Please use the dog-fouling bins available in the village; if these are full, you may use any public bin or take the waste home with you and dispose of it there.
Anyone who witnesses a dog owner failing to clean up after their animal or disposing of the waste inappropriately is advised to take photographic evidence and send this to the Cotswold District Council’s Animal Control and Welfare Team at the following address: https://www.cotswold.gov.uk/residents/environment/animal-control-welfare/
An online form to report dog fouling incidents is available at the above address.
