Police have received two reports of workmen in Northleach on Monday 13th May, offering to cut trees and clean guttering for inflated costs.
Inc. 125 14/05/19 – Two males have cut down a tree they said was dead and tried to charge £400, when the elderly resident said they didn’t have £400 they said £200. This was paid to the rogue traders.
Inc. 332 13/05/19 – Two males asking if gutters needed clearing and asked the resident if their car was for sale.
Police are asking the public to be vigilant and report any suspicious person offering work. Th elaw states any work agreed must have a seven day cooling off period and that written quotes are advisable to be obtained before work starts.
Police advice is no not let cold caller carry out any work required. Seek professional workmen with references or being recommended by friends and family.
